A Summer Reset for Your Energy
|
The summer has already started off on a busy foot. I've been to two retreats already. One was the Wisconsin Women's Herbal Conference in Almond, Wisconsin. It had been 9 years since I was there last...man, do the years just fly by! It felt like just a couple of years ago. What made this time special was that I went with one of my daughters. It's nice to share the love of plants with her. I learned some neat things about cattails (did you know that parts of them are edible?), but I mainly went to the workshops that were fun. I made my own drum, learned some daily rituals to inspire creativity, took a drumming class, and allowed myself some needed time to just rest in nature and unplug. My second retreat was a Certified Tai Chi Fundamentals Instructor retreat at the DeKoven Center in Racine, Wisconsin. We were right on Lake Michigan. This was not a restful retreat; it was 6 hours of tai chi for 5 days. Even though it was a lot of work, it was energizing. We talked a lot about the important of one of our postures called Wuji (pronounced “woo-jee”) or standing meditation. I teach this posture in both my qigong and tai chi classes. But it has also been coming into my awareness in other ways. When things start showing up in multiple places in my life, its a cue for me to take more notice. Enjoy this short 5 minute Wuji meditation (Wuji Meditation.mp3). I guide your through getting into the standing posture. Summer's EnergyAs we approach the Summer Solstice, we enter a season of expansion, growth, and outward energy. In Traditional Chinese Medicine, summer is associated with the Fire element and the energy of connection, joy, movement, and vitality. But before we expand, we need a strong foundation. One of the most powerful ways we create this foundation is through the practice of Wuji. Wuji invites us to slow down, release unnecessary tension, calm the nervous system, and create space for our energy (qi) to build and flow. And that’s where our real transformation begins. When we create stillness, we begin to reconnect with ourselves, allowing our natural balance to return. To celebrate the Summer Solstice, I’m offering a 7-Day Summer Qigong Reset: a virtual experience designed to help you reconnect with your body, cultivate your qi, and move into the season feeling more grounded, energized, and aligned. Doors open Sunday, June 21st. During this 7-day experience, you’ll receive:
It’s an invitation to pause, breathe, move, and reconnect. Your energy is always communicating with you. This is your opportunity to listen.
